Hours of work:  0.5/17.5 hours per week contact time with the possibility of more hours (inclusive of teaching and prep time), 52 weeks per year, Permanent

About the role:

As a Lecturer in Computing here at COPC, your role will encompass various responsibilities aimed at providing the very best of learning experiences to our students. Your role will entail designing and delivering lessons, conducting practical demonstrations, and assessing students’ progress through assignments / exams. You will also play a key role in curriculum development, staying updated with industry trends and standards to ensure students receive relevant and up to date training. Additionally, you may be tasked with providing guidance on career pathways, industry certifications and work placements to assist students in transitioning successfully into the workplace. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To teach on a range of programmes, providing high-quality learning opportunities that meet the needs of individual students/apprentices and groups in line with the College’s strategic priorities and objectives.
  • To provide flexible assessment opportunities and closely plan, monitor, track and record student/apprentice retention, achievement, and success.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality, relevant curriculum and programmes. Curriculum Development responsibilities include:
    • Actively contributing to the development of new programmes within the curriculum area
    • Producing annual schemes of work and/or training plans for all subjects/programmes to be taught

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

  • Already qualified teacher or prepared to study towards teacher qualification 
  • Level 5 or equivalent in Computing based subject 
  • Can show competencies in delivering; web based applications, Software design and development, VR & AR technology, Cybre Security Skills. 
  • Has an understanding of C sharpe, Java Script, HTML, CSS
  • Has an understanding to CISCO – this is desirable and not essential
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, maintaining an approachable demeanour to aid a positive first impression and rapport building 
  • Customer focused mindset with a commitment to providing exceptional service 
  • Problem solving abilities in order to resolve issues independently or collaboratively with colleagues  
  • Previous experience in a similar role or a lengthy background within computing
